arrawarra beach townhouses

Completed in 1996, this project successfully negotiated the dual constraints of a tight budget and a small irregular corner site to satisfy the client’s brief for two modest townhouses (of 105 and 130 square metres) in the beachside bush village setting.

Our design response to the flat low-lying terrain was to locate the living spaces upstairs to capture the sea breezes and local district views through surrounding eucalypts and paperbarks. The building form loosely references traditional coastal typologies, coupled with a simple and economical materials palette of bagged blockwork weatherboards and corrugated colorbond that evokes an unpretentious and relaxed coastal holiday vibe.
